Under the auspices of the National Trolleybus Association Rotherham 44 ran a tour of the Manchester system on 31st December 1966, the same day as Manchester 1344 was running the ‘final’ tour. Prior to this tour 44 had made test runs with MCTD engineers to ensure it was safe to operate and in the course of these runs it even made its way to Ashton, where it didn’t look out of place at all apart from being a six-wheeler.
A special blind had been prepared for the occasion and in all the photographs in this gallery this has been used to full effect.
