Subject: Western Welsh 290 (AKG 334)
Chassis: Leyland Tiger TS8
Body: Burlingham B34F
Location: Cardiff, Cathays Park Road
Date: c.1953

Wartime clearly took its toll on the bodywork of much of Western Welsh's fleet. Certainly a substantial rebodying programme was implemented for the pre-war Leyland Tigers. 290 here was new in Nov-1937 with a Weymann body but received this Burlingham one in 1946. It was withdrawn in Mar-1957.

At this time the service to Gwaelod-y-Garth had four journeys per day (except Sundays) with an additional schoolday journey. The terminus in Cardiff was referred to as Gorsedd Gardens but for this service was actually on Cathays Park Road. It would move soon to the new bus station.
