Subject: National Travel (West) 231 (YTX 323H) Chassis: Leyland Leopard PSU3A/4R Body: Plaxton Panorama Elite C49F Location: Exeter bus station Date: 12-Oct-1982
In the 1980s the National Travel picture got quite confusing with various stages of re-organisation. This is typified by 231 here which actually carries legal lettering for National Travel (West) but still displays the South West fleet name.
National Travel (West) had taken over the Cheltenham-based operations of National Travel (South West) around 1981 and this Leopard moved with the business. The Cheltenham operation became Black & White Motorways and 231 was, by some years, the oldest bus transferred.
The livery has changed compared to other views of the batch. The fleet name is now "National Express" and the white livery has changed with the addition of some black on the skirt and round the windows.
