Subject: Merthyr Tydfil B. T. 181 (HHB 181K) Chassis: Leyland Leopard PSU3B/2R Body: East Lancs B51F Location: Cardiff, Duke Street Date: 27-Jun-1981
This final batch of East Lancs-bodied Leopards brought the total of this combination in the fleet to thirty-nine which formed almost exactly half the fleet in 1974 when it became Merthyr Tydfil Borough Transport. They were easily distinguished from the other batches due to the higher driving position.
181 displays the Welsh version of the fleet name introduced in 1977/1978 which reads "Cyngor Bwrdeistref Merthyr Tudful" as well as a fleet number applied in a diagonal line. The livery is the revised version introduced in 1979 incorporating a white skirt.
The shop at the rear is Virgin Records and Tapes, from the era when those two were the main media used for selling music.
