The third coach to carry the Dene Coaches fleetname was this Plaxton-bodied Leyland Leopard RWW 122L. Ken Shaw's had taken over the licence(s) of Dene Garage in 1961 but the name had disappeared for a few years before this vehicle arrived.

It was a complete surprise, not just for the livery but also the choice of heavyweight chassis for a fleet that previously had happily run Bedfords and the like.

RWW 122L is entering Chorlton Street coach station in Manchester and appears to be on hire to Yelloway, providing extra capacity on the Cheltenham run.

From an original slide in the David Beilby collection, photographer unknown.
