At first sight the thought of travelling on a Leyland National all the way from Oldham (and beyond) to Scarborough doesn't seem very appealing. But this was a dual-purpose National which was quite comfortable and reasonably speedy. It had one advantage over the likes of the Leyland Leopard in its air suspension. However, designed as an express bus it would have struggled to handle the luggage requirements of a service such as this as it had no boot.

Crosville ENL 939 is pulling away from the stand at the Yelloway coach station in Oldham. I have no date for this photograph but I suspect it is mid-seventies as it has the green double-N symbol instead of the blue and red adopted about 1975. Nor does it have the symbol on a white background under the windscreen. Hence it will leave and head towards Uppermill, its next stop at that time.
