Pontypridd 66 (HAE 20) Sardis Road unknown

Subject: Pontypridd UDC 66 (HAE 20)
Chassis: Bristol L5G
Body: BBW B32D
Location: Pontypridd, Sardis Road
Date: 1950s

66 shows off its sliding front door, which was locked out of use and accompanied by a “No Entry” legend. It is at what was then the end of Sardis Road, before the bridge was built in the late 1960s making it into a through route.

The continuation of Sardis Road, where the van is emerging, was a narrow lane which was once the route of a tramway to Pwllgwaun Colliery from the Taff Vale Iron Works in Treforest and followed Broadway, for that reason previously known as Tram Road.
