Subject: East Kent 8198 (A198 TAR)
Location: Belgrade Hotel, Oldham
Date: c.1985

The cutting down to Manchester Street was once the site of the Belgrade Hotel. Seen in the car park there with Oldham Way behind was this East Kent coach. It was new as HFN 53L, an AEC Reliance with Duple body. It was rebodied in 1984 with this new Berkhof body and the batch was unique in this combination of chassis and body.

The hotel was initially opened as the Belgrade Hotel around 1976, the entrepreneur behind it being a Yugoslavian called Dragon Lukic. It became known as the Peroquito from 1990 to 1995 and was later called the Pennine Way Hotel. It was demolished in early 2008.
