Subject: Western Welsh 450 (450 GTX)
Chassis: AEC Regent V 2D3RA
Body: Metro-Cammell H39/31F
Location: Sherburn-in-Elmet, North's yard
Date: 1972

Whilst it is quite a long journey from Porth to Sherburn-in-Elmet, 450s next journey would be much longer as it was one of many of this this batch which found new lives in Hong Kong and is seen there elsewhere in this gallery. As can be seen from the photograph, it had received a Western Welsh allocation diamond (white for Porth) and fleetnames which have been painted out.

To the left SFV 418 is one of the "Gay Hostess" Atlantean coaches from the Standerwick fleet where it was numbered 22. It was one of the earlier withdrawals of the type and had already worked for a second operator, Abbey Coachways of Selby. Behind 450 is an unidentified lowbridge Atlantean from the East Midland fleet.

This image was bought as a black and white slide, which is unusal but it seems to have been taken directly on Agfa Dia-Direct film rather than being a copy of a negative.

From an original slide in the David Beilby collection, photographer unknown
