74 is working the route to Senghenydd via Trecynydd which was one of Rhymney Valley's busier routes and a regular haunt of the PD3s in their later years. By the time of this photograph a more frequent service of smaller buses is the order of the day - there were five buses an hour to Senghenydd which also served some additional places.
