Subject: Portsmouth C. T. 30 (RV 8312) Chassis: AEC 661T Body: Cravens H26/26R Location: Southsea, Goldsmith Avenue Date: 1936/37
30 was an early example of the Cravens-bodied AECs that formed the bulk of the Portsmouth trolleybus fleet and is at the rear of a trio of similar vehicles.
The destinations on these vehicles illustrate Portsmouth's practice at the time. In normal service the upper display would show the route number, destination and intermediate points whilst the lower display would show "Portsmouth Corporation". However, on special workings such as the football special worked by 30, the upper blind would be set to blank and the destination shown on the lower blind.
30 and the others have brought spectators to a football match at Fratton Park which is down Frogmore Road to the left. They are passing the "Super Service Station", since replaced by housing.
