Portsmouth 78 (RV 9129)

Subject: Portsmouth C. T. 78 (RV 9129)
Chassis: AEC 661T
Body: Cravens H26/26R
Location: Portsmouth, The Hard
Date: 1936/37

78 is at the rear of a trio of similar vehicles and is working the 12, a tram service replacement that started operation on 1-Nov-1936.

This terminus was also used by motorbuses which can be seen in the background. One can be identified as 10 (RV 718), a Short-bodied Leyland Titan TD1.

78 later became 278 and was one of the first of the batch to be rebuilt, in 1949, which perhaps explains its earlier withdrawal than most in 1959.
