Subject: North Western 747 (LDB 747) Chassis: AEC Reliance MU3RA Body: Willowbrook DP43F Location: Halifax, Crossfield bus station Date: 1964
The magnificent structure behind 747 was being demolished at the time of the photograph. It had opened as the Oddfellows Hall in 1840 and both Franz Liszt and Charles Dickens appeared there. In latter years it had been a cinema.
747 had also had a starring role in the past, as it appeared at the 1958 Commercial Motor Show. In this view it still hasn’t faded from its original glory, looking very smart in its black-top livery, although it no longer has its original fleetname with sloping letters.
