Subject: Merthyr Tydfil B. C. 240 (YPL 75T) Chassis: AEC Reliance 6U2R Body: Duple Dominant II Express C53F Location: Fiddler's Elbow Date: 16-Dec-1984
Major works are taking place at Fiddler's Elbow and the roundabout is under construction in the right background. Far more conspicuous is the new viaduct linking to the A470(T), a major engineering project and one of the reasons why this section of new road had some of the highest construction costs per mile of any contemporary road project. The viaduct was the scene of further major works in 2016 when the expansion joints had to be renewed.
Just by here on the right stood St. Cynon's church and school. Both are now demolished but the cemetery still remains.
240, which had by now been in service all of five days, heads for Cardiff with a rather meagre passenger load.
