Whilst I always found the name a little off-putting, there was nothing wrong with Brains beers and the characteristic way of writing the name emphasising in the two middle letters the concept of 'A1' sums up their beers well.
Brains moved into the former Hancock brewery in 2000 and vacated this site which has since been developed into the Brewery Quarter, a complex of eating and drinking establishments.
503 will have passed this point several times a day on most days it worked for Rhondda but left before it changed. It was withdrawn in 1996 and sold to Wilts & Dorset, for whom it worked in their Damory Coaches subsidiary.
