Subject: Christchurch Chassis: English Electric Body: (Boon and Company B40D) Location: Preston, Dick, Kerr Works Date: 1930
This is one of the six vehicles which were the only English Electric trolleybus chassis that were exported. They became 207-212 in the Christchurch fleet and started trolleybus operation in the city on 1-Apr-1931. They lasted until the end of trolleybus operation on 8-Nov-1956.
The bodies were built in New Zealand and this chassis has been set up for testing, probably on the South Lancs system. The works wiring is at this date only suitable for trams so the return is by a lead which can be seen connected to the rear of the chassis.
