5888 is approaching Greenfield station from Uppermill on 24th March 1972. The wall in the foreground shows where it was repaired following what could have been a very nasty accident. A bulldozer was making its way up Ladcastle Road towards Moorgate quarry when the road collapsed underneath, sending the bulldozer crashing onto the railway below. Fortunately there were no trains approaching. This happened in the early sixties - some thirty years later some mobile plant tried to get to the same quarry and got stuck. Rescue was a major exercise, the road was blocked for some weeks and that incident saw the end of quarrying at that site.
