Below the buses on the left can be seen the South Wales Mineral Railway (SWMR) on the embankment curving in front of the pylon. This line continued to the top of an incline at Briton Ferry. Curving off it on the inside is the Port Talbot Railway (PTR) line to the eponymous town. Cutting through these is a PTR line up Cwm Gwenffrwd which passed under three separate bridges here including one under a spur from the SWMR up the same valley which it joined shortly after.
