Ex-Nottingham City Transport 441 is seen in the dramatic setting of Pontrhydyfen. The village is dominated by the Bont Fawr aqueduct, as is this photograph. This was built in the 19th Century to take water to the waterwheels of the Cwmavon ironworks.
The village is home to other bridges. One former one can be seen through the arch behind the bus. This bridge was on the former Rhondda and Swansea Bay Railway route up the valley to Cymmer Afan and subsequently the tunnel through to the Rhondda valley. Another viaduct is seen in the next photo.
