192 was one of two Leyland Nationals ordered by the Corporation for evaluation along with the Metro-Scanias, however they did not enter service until Apr-1974, the first month of the Borough Council's existence. Delivered from the Leyland National plant in an all-cream livery, the crimson band was added after delivery.

These were the only short (10.3 metre) Leyland Nationals in the fleet, although the National 2s were also of similar size.
