The 0731 from Greenfield to Manchester must have been unique in big fleet operation in Manchester at the time as it was worked almost invariably by the same bus and driver. The only working from Dukinfield it brought welcome (if at that time consistent!) variety to the route. 30228 was almost at the top of the hill and had its origins with Capital Citybus in London, at the time owned by Citybus in Hong Kong. In that Far Eastern dependency 888 was considered a lucky number and as a result there were quite a few buses in the fleet with that number in the registration (there are other examples to be found elsewhere in the Saddleworth Buses gallery).
