The 849 is believed to actually have been the later number for the X55, which was a Stockport to Scarborough service which stopped at Ashton and Stalybridge, also passing through Greenfield. Whether the wrong route number is shown or it is diverted via Oldham to provide extra capacity we will probably never know.
