Subject: National Welsh RS1301 (LAX 101E) Chassis: Bristol RESL6L Body: ECW B46F Location: Old Ynysybwl, Heol-Y-Mynach Date: 26-Nov-1983
RS1301 makes a welcome re-appearance of the type in Ynysybwl.
The houses just to the left of the bus have since been demolished, along with Glanffrwd School, on the extreme left. This had opened in 1868 as Ynysybwl British School and prior to the growth associated with the sinking of Lady Windsor Colliery was the only school in the valley. After the Second World War, the school was redesignated an infants school and named after local poet and historian Glanffrwd.
