Subject: National Welsh N1878 (VHB 684S) Chassis: Leyland National 11351A/1R Body: Leyland National B49F Location: Ystrad, Gelligaled Road Date: 11-Mar-1980
Many journeys on the service that became the 320 and 321 used to terminate at The Star here, although its quite difficult nowadays to imagine where they might have turned round (I suspect they looped round the block, emerging in Chapel Street at the end of the first block of buildings after the junction on the right). The pub is no more, having closed around 2011 and now used as a grocery, whilst the junction here now features a mini-roundabout.
N1878 is working a 321 to Cardiff - at the time alternate journeys (on the 320) travelled down the other side of the valley along Nant-y-Gwyddon Road but with the 1981 MAP scheme buses ceased to use that route altogether.
