Subject: Western Welsh 2375 (XTG 375) on hire to South Wales Chassis: Leyland Tiger Cub PSUC1/1 Body: Weymann B44F Location: Haverfordwest depot Date: 31-Jul-1973
Making for a very unusual sight so far west (although of course Rhondda ran a summer service to Tenby), apart from renumbering 2375 is still in full Rhondda livery. It spent just a short time on loan to South Wales, from July to August 1973 and as can be seen elsewhere in the gallery, visited Western Welsh depots as well.
To the right is a Western Welsh bus which had become a permanent part of the South Wales fleet. 302 (SBO 242) was originally Western Welsh 1242 and had been transferred along with this depot at Haverfordwest in March 1972. It was withdrawn at the end of the year.
To the left of 2375 is a Red & White Bristol MW6G coach converted for one-man operation and downgraded. It can be identified as DS1558 (SWO 995) as the only one of this batch on loan - the rebuilt destination box was a prominent feature of these downgraded coaches of the 1958 batch.
The vehicle behing 2375 is clearly another, later, MW6G coach but is difficult to identify. It may not be on loan but just parked here as there is no record of the hire of a matching vehicle, but the vehicles loaned in 1973 seem to have been poorly recorded. I suspect it is one of Crosville's 1962 or 1963 deliveries and in the green and cream livery applied when they were demoted to dual-purpose.
