Subject: Bradford C. T. 798 (BDJ 86)
Chassis: BUT 9611T
Body: East Lancs H35/28R
Location: Laisterdyke, Greenhill Lane
Date: 15-Aug-1965

This is the first of a sequence of shots of 798 on what looks to have been a very interesting and well-planned tour organised by the Bradford Trolleybus Association.

This first view is one of the most unusual as it captures the reverser at Greenhill Lane in Laisterdyke. The principal use of this reverser at the time was as a way for trolleybus returning from service on the Wakefield Road services to get back to Thornbury depot. The need for it arose because the wiring at the junction on Leeds Road in Laisterdyke didn't allow a left turn from the depot towards Dudley Hill, or the reverse. Trolleybuses going to Dudley Hill could go to the roundabout at Thornbury terminus and then proceed along Leeds Old Road turning left into Killinghall Road, wiring that remained until the end of the system.

However, to get back from Dudley Hill they had to cross Leeds Road at Laisterdyke, turn in this reverser and then go back to Leeds Road and then turn left.

The scene is easily recognisable today. However, Wells's electrical store is long gone and Killinghall Road is much busier.
