Subject: Rhondda 476 (476 UNY) and 465 (465 MTX) Chassis: AEC Regent V 2MD3RA (476 UNY) and MD3RV (465 MTX) Body: Northern Counties (476 UNY) and Metro-Cammell (465 MTX) H37/28F Location: Barry Island Date: 21-Jun-1970
This visit to Barry in 1970 introduced me to the Rhondda day trip phenomenon, with just under forty Regent Vs to be seen along with about half-a-dozen Pontypridd examples which would be supporting the Rhondda operation anyway.
476 is in the sun at Barry Island along with most of the other Northern Counties-bodied Regents and to its right is 465 with the illuminated advert panel partially visible. At the extreme right is another one of the quartet whilst between is a Duple-bodied Bedford SB new to Harper Brothers, Heath Hayes. This is probably LBF 473 which was sold to Morlais of Merthyr in 1966 but I have not been able to confirm this yet.
