Subject: Merthyr Tydfil C. T. 104 (HB 9840)
Chassis: Leyland Titan PD3/4
Body: East Lancs H41/32RD
Location: Cardiff bus station
Date: c.Jul-1963

This colour shot shows off well the Merthyr Tydfil livery as applied to double-deckers until 1967. 104 was one of two of this batch fitted with rear doors specifically for the Cardiff service but they were eventually removed from 104 in 1973 having been non-operational for several years. The bus is seen later in this gallery after being rebuilt.

The destination display on this bus is unusual in referring to Cardiff General Station instead of just plain Cardiff. It is believed this blind was fitted to this bus from new.

These original five PD3s differed from the later ones in not having an emergency exit in the front offside lower deck window, this change was a consequence of revised legislation and also affected other fleets.
