Subject: National Welsh XC970 (G970 KTX) Chassis: Volvo B10M-60 Body: Plaxton Expressliner C46F Location: Cardiff bus station Date: c.1991
National Welsh bought five of these in 1990. The Plaxton Expressliner body was developed to National Express specification, based on the Paramount III 3500. The livery is to full National Express specification and shows neither fleet name nor fleet number. The standardised branding meant that in later life when coaches of this batch worked for, for example, Park's of Hamilton or Wessex, they didn't look much different at all.
All five came on 5th February 1992 to what was to become Rhondda Buses, still at that stage operating under the Tellings-Golden Miller licence. However, their time there was short as operation of the 501 (Cardiff to London) and 549 (Cardiff to Glasgow) services was relinquished from 24th April 1992 and these coaches were no longer needed. G970 KTX passed from Tellings-Golden Miller to Park's of Hamilton and was still operating for M-Line of Alloa as late as 2010.
