H5966 returns from Blaencwm with a dramatic mountain backdrop, an environment so different from that in which Rhondda's buses were normally photographed. The view was taken from the trackbed of the old railway and could not be taken today with the growth of all the trees in the foreground.
The raised ground behind the bus is where the Nant Selsig was culverted at the time, the culverting being apparently the product of a road-widening scheme many years ago. This culverting, it seems, led to problems and since flooding in December 1979 the river is now open again here and has been diverted to follow the former railway trackbed.
