It is early Stagecoach days and Rhondda 700 is as yet unchanged under the new ownership. It would later become Stagecoach 918 and run with its new owner until 1999.
The Maindy Pool is on the edge of a large set of sport facilities including an oval track. These were developed on a site of an old brickworks. At the far side of the site is Maindy barracks and in that site was the Cardiff Gelligaer Street depot of Red & White and later National Welsh.
