229 was sold to A1 in 1959 and operated for them until 1962. When compared to the earlier shot of it with Rhondda it can be seen to have acquired trafficators and a nearside mirror. It has also been modified with a single handrail across the front windows, something that may have been done by a Rhondda as a few others were also so modified.
