49 is at the Schöffelgasse stop and will turn right to reach Herbeckstraße. It has just turned out of the lower section of Wallrißstraße where trams on the 9 route terminate. The latter also use this short piece of track but turn left at the end.

As this was the beginning of the first day of exploration of the tram system on my first visit to Vienna, this working would not appear unusual but in subsequent research it would appear that this the first week of operation of ULFs on the 40.
