Subject: Pontypridd UDC 97 (NNY 510E)
Chassis: AEC Reliance 6MU4R
Body: Willowbrook B45F
Location: Glyntaff depot
Date: 21-Jun-1970

Two very different Reliances. 90 on the right had a Longwell Green body, synchromesh gearbox and vacuum brakes. 97 had the larger AH505 engine, air brakes and a constant-mesh gearbox - a feature of all later Pontypridd Reliances.

97 had a serious accident on Sunday 7th July 1968 when, as the second of two buses taking PUDC transport staff on their annual outing, it overturned on the A38 at Shute Shelve near Axbridge. 39 of the 45 on board were well enough to be taken home on a relief bus driven by Traffic Superintendent George Rees. Virtually all staff reported for work the following day so there was no impact on either traffic or maintenance departments.

97 was returned to Willowbrook where it received what was probably almost a new body, returning to Pontypridd in 1969.
