Subject: Pontypridd UDC 92 (ETG 388C) Chassis: AEC Regent V 2MD3RA Body: Weymann H34/26F Location: Pontypridd, Broadway Date: late 1960s
Pontypridd’s first Regent Vs had Weymann bodies which, although very similar to the later Metro-Cammell bodies, had quite a few detail differences. They had hopper ventilators (instead of sliders), the roof ventilators were higher up and the trafficator was set further back. The corner between the canopy and the top right of the windscreen was square, whilst on the Metro-Cammell ones it was radiussed. The blue under the windscreen followed the bottom line of the windscreen instead of being straight - a difference which continued in later repaints. Like the Guy Arab LUFs, they had nearside fuel fillers, whereas the rest of the fleet had the filler on the offside.
The second of the Weymann-bodied Regents, 92, heads towards Rhydyfelin along Broadway whilst a Roe-bodied Reliance and a Longwell Green Regent V head in the opposite direction.
