Subject: City of Cardiff 326 (MUH 326) Chassis: Guy Arab IV 6LW Body: East Lancs H35/28R Location: Merthyr Tydfil bus station Date: May-1958
Guy Arab IV 326 has been captured in this superb negative from the RHG Simpson archive. These Guy Arabs seem to have been the vehicle favoured by Cardiff for the service for some years.
This batch of fifteen Guy Arabs was originally ordered as ten with East Lancs bodies and five (326-330) with D. J. Davies bodies, Davies having bodied the first batch of Guy Arabs. The same split of bodies was also specified for fifteen Daimler CVG6 which came a few months earlier. However, D. J. Davies were in some financial difficulties at the time and asked to be relieved of the contract. Whilst this disrupted the Daimler deliveries it didn't affect the Guys. 326 here is one of those that were planned originally to have different coachwork.
