This rather poor photograph has been included as it is very unusual, showing a Northern General Leyland Leopard working a 10 to Greenfield. It was 8th April 1969, the day after Easter Monday and I had travelled back on a service bus to Grasscroft when I spotted this behind. I happened to have my camera with me (and some film in it!) and tried this shot at Grasscroft Post Office. However, Instamatic shots into the sun don't tend to work well! Why didn't I think to photograph it on its way back?

Presumably it had arrived on an X97 and had been 'borrowed' by North Western's Oldham depot to fill a gap caused perhaps by their vehicles also being on holiday duty. It would seem to be one of the Leopards with Marshall dual-purpose bodies of the batch 2509-2523 (CCN 709-723D).
