Northern 7098 would appear to be starting a Manchester to Leeds working, one that went nowhere near its home base, but this would be done either for more efficient operation or to provide additional capacity at busy times.

It is fitted with the ECW B51 body which was one of the Lowestoft factory's less successful products and was only produced in relatively small numbers.
