Subject: Western Welsh N4577 (PKG 740R) Chassis: Leyland National 11351A/1R Body: Leyland National B49F Location: Llwynypia Square Date: 14-Apr-1979
This negative suffered from double exposure at the top and bottom but I have managed to improve it considerably by cropping and some Photoshop work. The effort is worthwhile as the base negative was very good quality and photographs in this location are scarce.
N4577 is working the service linking the two Rhondda valleys via Porth. Not much use as through service - there's a much shorter route to Maerdy through Penrhys on top of the hill at the left of the picture - but it did provide plenty of links between the various settlements in the valleys.
After a period in the Rhondda this bus ended up in Abergavenny by 1985 but was withdrawn by 1990.
From an original negative in the David Beilby collection from the RHG Simspon archive
