Subject: Rhondda 425 (VTX 425)
Chassis: AEC Regent V LD3RA
Body: Weymann H37/33F
Location: Treorchy, Dyfodwg Street
Date: 17-Sep-1964

425 is parked down the side of the Park and Dare Hall in Treorchy and would seem to have worked up to Treorchy from Porth or Pontypridd, which would be quite unusual.

The drivers probably had difficulty judging where the front nearside corner was when these arrived, previous AECs having exposed radiators with a smaller bonnet. So, as can be seen at the front nearside corner on this example, a sighting rod with a small ball at the top was used. It's not clear whether the drivers asked for this or the depot staff fitted it as they were fed up with straightening dented wings! These sighting rods seem to have got bent or removed in later years.
