Subject: Western Welsh 429 (VTX 429)
Chassis: AEC Regent V LD3RA
Body: Weymann H37/33F
Location: Barry, Colcot Road
Date: 1971

429 was another of this first batch of thirty-foot long Regents to be transferred to Barry. Alternate journeys on the 349 only ran as far as Barry Dock Station and 429 is on one of these which would cut down St. Mary's Avenue from Holton Road to reach Barry Dock station. The other journeys would continue further along Holton Road and turn down Robert Street to Dock View Road and approach the junction seen here from the far right on their return, past the Seamen's Institute, the unusual brick building on the corner of Castleland Street.

The services along Dock View Road were cut back significantly with the introduction of service revisions on 6-Aug-1984. The 349 then became a short circular service from King Square that ran but three times daily. By the following year it ran across the town to Peterswell Road but was no more frequent and had been withdrawn by 1986 leaving this are unserved.
