SP6339 NSWGR 4601 Delph Station

Subject: Wynn’s 161 (EDW 96) hauling NSWGR 4601
Location: Delph, Huddersfield Road
Date: c.1956

An unusual view shows 4601 setting off again after its stop and passing over the cross roads. The junction has since been re-aligned following purchase and demolition of the former Station Master's house just visible on the right after closure of the station.

The river in the foreground is the Tame which merges with the Goyt in Stockport and becomes the Mersey. That river reaches the sea in Liverpool, which is also the immediate destination of the locomotive.
