Subject: Mexborough & Swinton 31 (FWX 915)
Chassis: Sunbeam F4
Body: Brush B35C
Location: Rotherham, Don Bridge
Date: c.1961

31 is crossing the earlier Don Bridge which has since been replaced. This bridge was finally removed around 2010 but the ornamental ironwork has been re-used in closing the gaps left by the missing bridge.

31 was part of the fleet operating until the end and after withdrawal was sold to Bradford. Whilst it had been intended to rebody all the twelve Sunbeams bought from Mexborough & Swinton, in the event only seven were rebodied with the remainder, including 31, just used for spares.

The Grafton Hotel in the background closed as long ago as 1970 and there is now a roundabout on the site at the junction of St. Ann's Road (to the left) and Effingham Street where the trolleybuses ran.
