Trolleybus driving is a rather specialised skill so Bradford, as with other trolleybus operators, had to train almost all new drivers themselves.

This was done with a mixture of service trolleybuses and specially-adapted vehicles and both are seen here. Most notable was Roe-bodied BUT 745 which was withdrawn and became a driver training vehicle for four years before being returned to service.

The trolleybus driving school closed at the end of July 1971 when the Clayton, Wibsey and Buttershaw routes ceased. By this stage the remaining pool of trained drivers was sufficient to see through the system to the end.
