The Bedwas and Machen PD3 was the last lowbridge (sunken side gangway) bus built and had just been repainted back into Bedwas and Machen livery by Rhymney Valley. It is posed in the sunshine alongside the newest type of double-decker in the fleet at the time, Bristol VRT 84.

Both these buses went into separate ownership later but had in common a connection with Julian Peddle, to the extent that the Bedwas and Machen PD3 was even stored at Porth depot for while in the Rhondda Buses era.
