From 1st November 2004 certain peak hour journeys on the 82 were extended to start from Uppermill (in the morning) to serve Delph and Scouthead, whilst in the evening they extended to Uppermill. This was done to provide a through peak-hour service from the Scouthead and Austerlands area into Manchester which had been lost as a result of the 183 ceasing operation.

This service led an uneventful existence until it was withdrawn as part of a package of service revisions, with the last journey being on 26th October 2012. This also saw the end of the 82 in any form except for the night buses that operate at weekends.

The service was always worked by First Manchester from Oldham garage.
