Pontypridd 77 (VNY 655) Bridge Street 1960s John Kaye (David Everett) DJE_07_04
Subject: Pontypridd UDC 77 (VNY 655) Chassis: Guy Arab LUF 6HLW Body: Roe B41R Location: Pontypridd, Bridge Street Date: c1968
The photographer has captured a scene which has since changed out of all recognition with the A470 trunk road now dominating the background. 77 is seemingly following the old trolleybus route (as extended after abandonment) and the traction standards are still visible. In the background can be seen where the road crosses the disused Glamorgan Canal, whilst the white building just visible above the rear of the bus is the Pontypridd Corn and Hay Stores, a building made famous by the destination blinds of Red and White buses! The only link with this view is the Llanover Arms on the left, still in business.
