Subject: Crosville CRG527 (AFM 102B) Chassis: Bristol RELH6G Body: ECW C47F Location: Cardiff bus station Date: 7-Jun-1967
Crosville seemed determined to confuse enthusiasts, as CRG527-532 were registered AFM 102-107B whilst almost-identical CRG102-107 were registered AFM 102-107G.
CRG527 is one of the earlier batch, Crosville's second delivery of RE coaches after an initial batch of four. They were clearly initially employed on the Liverpool to London service as reflected in the legend in the illuminated panels on the waistband.
The exhaust pipes at the rear corner are not a standard for the chassis and I do wonder whether this vehicle has a combusion heater to supplement that from the engine cooling water - Gardner engines could run quite cool and I know Crosville had concerns about coach heating in the 1960s.
