Subject: Multiple Sclerosis Society EU 9722
Chassis: Leyland Tiger PS1/1
Body: Lydney B8F
Location: Porth depot
Date: c.Jun-1975

EU 9722 started off in the fleet of Griffin, Brynmawr as their 22 new in July 1949. The following year the fleet was absorbed into Red & White when it was numbered 688 and in the following year S1449. Griffin remained the legal owner until 1953 when the absorption was complete.

After withdrawal in 1963 it passed to the Mayoress of Rhondda for operation by Rhondda Corporation (as it was by then) Welfare Department on behalf of the Rhondda branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. It was converted by Rhondda Transport into the configuration seen here with just 8 seats and a tail lift for wheelchairs.

It is seen at Porth depot not long before it was acquired for preservation in 1976. Sadly it ended up spending many years stored outdoors which has taken its toll. The bus is now in secure undercover storage but it will be a major project to restore it.
