It would appear that the interior of the earlier examples of these Leyland/English Electric single-deckers followed a pattern set by the 'one-manners' 523-528, with a smoking area at the rear and a non-smoking section at the front, separated by a bulkhead. The smoking section featured quite long inward-facing seats.
